Thanks. That's what it is. In about 1983 I bought a "Cedar axe" (double bit). We didn't have any cedar trees in out end of Texas but there was plenty of other stuff to cut with a small, light double bit axe. I carried it in my tool box for a lot of years and just recently transferred it to the shop wall. It's a good little axe and keeps an edge if I can keep it out of the dirt when I use it.
About two years ago I broke the handle and finally found one at a "Mom and Pop" hardware store. I hung it but didn't do a very good job of it. I took the handle off of it the other day, sanded all the varnish off of it and re-hung it properly finished with boiled linseed oil. I the course of doing that I cleaned up the head with a wire wheel and found the makers mark.
Thanks again for the info.
