And everyone should have a nice big external hard drive and be backing up all their files periodically. My family photos and videos are irreplaceable so I have them backed up on two different external drives.
Amen! I have a 320 Gb external drive on loan to me. 500 Gb drives can be had nowadays for under $100. 80 gig drives go for around $40.  Small price to pay for peace of mind.
I only do what the voices in my wife's head tell her to tell me to do.

Yeah it amazes me how many people just don't back up their files. It's a minor inconvenience compared to the HUGE loss you'd incur if you lost the files. It took my wife losing files about 6 times before she finally started backing up on a removable SD card. It's already saved her a few times now and she's begun to see the wisdom in doing it. Her objection to backing up files at first was that she, "shouldn't have to". Well, I agree. We shouldn't have to lock our doors either. But the results from not doing so can be so devastating that it's worth the minor hassle, IMO.

I stopped backing up stuff when the old tape drives became obsolete and unreliable. Then it took spanning 10 CDs to back everything up. <sigh>. But now with flash drives and external HDs being so cheap (relatively) there's no excuse for not avoiding a tragedy.

For true indeed.  Both on the reload and backup.

OP: Yeah that Antivirus 2010 was a beast.  Mbam (anti-malwarebytes) worked really well on it.  It was about the only scanner that could kill it off reliably.

I run Comodo Internet Security myself.  Not let me down yet.  AVG and Avast have performed pretty good too for freeware.  Comodo is doing another of their 5-dollar sales right now: Internet Security Pro with remote live support for 5 bucks a year.  Just loaded up a client with them this morning.

MWB finally solved my problem, but SS2010 disabled my original installation of it!  I ran a new MWB and nothing was found!  I had to Disable Services and re-run it to get rid of that female dog! It attached itself to one (or more) of the loaded Services, and was hidden from MWB at first.  Worst freakin' piece of malware I ever encountered!!!!

Speaking of porn...

Well, this thread kinda touches on it in that websites can substitute pornographic images for another linked-to pic...

But does the fact that we have the word "porn" in the titles of some of our threads give us a red flag on certain software filters/searches etc.? I mean, a personal bias against the real pornography 'industry' aside, I'm suggesting our choice of words actually work against us?  Especially if we're thinking about a younger audience  - perhaps some father and son or daughter looking at the site together... I dunno.  Happens.

Just askin'.  Offence neither meant nor expected in return.

That's been discussed elsewhere that I have seen.  Interesting discussion actually in some ways.  Personally, I can laugh at it, but I do understand the concern.  I don't take a stand on it because I just don't care enough either way...but in consideration for those who surf from work, it may be a good idea to mask or not use the word so as to not trip their IT's surf triggers and get the site blacklisted.

Oh ya... that's a good point too.  I've no Big Brother over my should at work (like right now) but I can certainly see that scenario.

Personally, FWIW, I did explain to my wife how the word was used here.

Originally, we named the picture threads that way to set ourselves apart from other forums. Red and I wanted to show that we weren't so uptight. However if it is possibly hurting our search engine ranking I could see a benefit to changing the titles.

Hard to know if that's the case or not, but it is worth a closer look.

Ya, I TOTALLY appreciate that!  And I see exactly why that would be an important statement to make.  And I want to say that you've made that statement refreshingly clear on several occasions.  You guys have done an AWESOME job on creating a welcoming and friendly place here.  This place rocks, no doubt, and I figure as the site progresses and grows, it (i.e. you guys) will continuously 'remake' itself appropriately.

I just brought it up to make sure someone's got your back on all sides of the issue.

Thank you, I appreciate that! I will discuss it with Red and see about any possible changes. I have an idea for some different thread titles that will be "filter friendly" and still convey the spirit of the original titles. :D

Ok, we've discussed it and I've made some changes that should pass most of the filters, but remain true to the spirit of the original thread titles.

I like the new titles - pretty clever guys!
