MLL Knives "Scout" bench top review
« on: May 28, 2012, 10:52:34 PM »
sorry for the bench review guys, but its just been to HOT lately to go out. i promise a more thorough review in the fall. my overall impressions on this knife are great! i really like how it feels in my hands, and it has a very nimble feel to it.

for those of us who are used to having pointy knives (ive used clip points for EVER) this design will take a little getting used to. this knife is capable of doing any bushcraft task that a woodlore can do, even with out the small tip. that said, it does take a little getting used to.

the knife came to me with a convex 3/4 height grind, with a small secondary edge bevel. this is easily rolled into a convex edge if the user desires to do so. personally, i prefer the secondary edge bevel. i did touch up the edge when i got it. not because it wasnt sharp when it arrived, but its something i do to ALL the knives i get. the knife came to me very sharp, and was very much usable the way it was. i just like to sharpen my knives my way is all :)

anyhow, here is a short table top review of this knife. hope you enjoy! and thanks to Mario at MLL Knives for this wonderful tool!!

Thorough review.

I am digging the denim micarta myself. The scout is the model I'd most want to try out of MLL's lineup. I like the profile, and I like the bolt-on scales.

Great review Red. It is getting harder to choose a knife with all of these great custom knife makers here.

Thanks for the review. You must have filmed this late to get that nice long train whistle...jerks.

Glad to hear you're liking the knife, maybe if you keep it for a while, I'll get to play with it! Looking forward to long-term usage reviews on MLL's knives.

Very good review.  So is the handle much smaller than your woodie version between the guards?

Great review Red. Thanks for sharing it, been real curious and tempted by MLL's blades.
