I almost ran over this one mowing this spring. It hopped up out of the tall grass, ran down about 15 feet, went back into the grass and laid down. So I went in and got the camera.

Great pictures, Apercula!    Those little fawns have scared the crap out of me several times by doing that same thing.  When there mamas tell them to "lie down and be still," they must mean it! ;D

Nice photos.

We get a couple of fawns a year in the swather.   They won't move when they are real little until it's too late.

Great shot Crash! That one could go in a calendar!

Did you use a ND filter to slow the shutter speed? I couldn't get mine slow enough even using ISO 100 without a filter to block some of the light.

I did not use an ND - just a UV (I think we used to call them skylight filters).  I still have to play with it some but this was with the new Nikon D3300, tripod and electronic shutter release.

Hope I'm not breaking any unwritten rule in this thread but I was impressed with this shot that was taken today, but not by me. My daughter went out for a drive with her mom and mom's fiancee, along the way they saw a hawk in a tree and because the trees were covered in a thin layer of ice they thought it would make a good pic. Now I'm not sure who actually took the pic but it was one of the three, and here she be...

That's a GREAT shot, zamms!    Your daughter should be extra proud of that one....opportunitie s like that don't come along every day.  I took a similar one of a backlit redtail hawk taking flight from the top of a utility pole one time, but it was a little flawed.......it had a huge stream of white hawk-poop trailing from its exhaust port.

Here's another from Molokai.  This is the bay where they "dropped off" leppers (Hansen's disease).  If it was too rough to dock (which was often) they just threw them overboard.
