Had to get the BB out for the first hang.  Absolutely love it. Bottom quilt is from KAQ.

I guess it had to be comfortable. I haven't tried hammocks yet. But as hard as it is for me to get comfortable in a tent it might be worth a shot.

Well it's light and small enough I can bring a tent and the hammock and try it out while still having the tent to fall back on.

I'm not sure how well I'll like a hammock, but I sure am gonna try.

I have heard those BB are a dream.

Welcome to the trees club and glad to hear you enjoyed it. I am using a grand trunk double with a 10 x 10 tarp. Looking forward to getting in it this weekend for our camping trip with the Florida gang. Sounds like the weather is going to dip down into some cooler temps.

I wanna take a closer look at your rig this weekend.  I've got a new GT UL and will bring it, but usually I'm a ground sleeper.  I've done the hammock thing in the glades and Green Swamp with a surplus rig.  Look for temps in the low 40's this weekend on the river.  Maybe showers on Fri.   But overall, GREAT camping weather.

At least it's not a femur through the pelvis.

Awesome!

The Blackbird is next on my buy list. I have been researching the heck out of them. I am a dedicated tent camper but I keep getting lured into thinking that I should be hanging!

My only dilemma (other than deciding if I really want a hammock) is what tarp to go with. I really like the Warbonnett Superfly. Can't decide if I want the regular or camo. Or, if I should just get any decent 10x10 or 12x10 tarp and have at it!

All in all.........I have hammock envy!

I think it depends on when you'll be hammocking as to what tarp you need. Any tarp, as long as it covers the hammock length, will do... Once you get into colder weather hammocking, you might want a tarp with doors to button in the warmth. Personally, I'm a fair weather camper, so I only need a basic tarp (I prefer the normal urethane coated type over the silnylon). Heck, I think Mears used a tiny Aussie surplus hooch shelter for his? Nothing fancy (but oddly, still kinda pricey) but it seemed to work in a rainforest.

Thanks Rog...

I plan on fair weather hammock hanging only.

Infidel,

What model is that? I assume it is the 1.7. Is it the single of double?
