USGI Gasmask bag...my style
« on: September 09, 2012, 12:30:07 AM »
I couldn't for the life of me, figure out a good way I wanted to rig this bag with the supplied carry straps for field use.

So, in the words of Tim the tool man Taylor....I rewired it. :D

Much better now :D

And the supplied straps are cut off and disposed of...

that looks good Jeff, i may do that to one of mine. i went with the snap mod on both of mine, but its not too late to add a leather shoulder strap :)

or maybe i will save that one for the bread bag i have.... hmm...

I'd love a pic of that snap mod. I must have missed it on the forum.

There's been a couple of differennt approaches to modifying these bags.  I must say that leather strap you did is pretty nifty.

Here are a couple of other approaches

Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

That looks great Jeff. I might need to get me one of these bags next year.

LOL!! actually, I have made it into a FINE bug out bag. The size has the ability to carry all essentials, including full tarp for shelter AND ground cloth with all paracord needed, AND 16 ounce stainless bottle, AND Otterbox 3000 full of every trinket and goodie needed, AND 2 packages of Mountain House Rice and Chicken, AND a couple instant ice packs, AND a bunch of other necessities, I think I found compact BOB love here....

Oh and a 2 CR123 fully ramping flashlight, and a small fixed blade and SAK Deluxe tinker...

Pack it right, this thing holds a lot. That bottom pocket holds a TON of stuff for me and I have a carabiner holding it closed in case the velcro comes loose.

I think I'll need to take a few pics this later morning...
