3D cameras for youtube, anyone try one?
« on: September 17, 2012, 07:38:32 PM »
I found a discontinued Aiptek 3D camera on Amazon for $69 and I figured it would be fun to give it a whirl. The camera uses two separate 5mp image sensors to record a stereo image. It records in 720p resolution and also takes still pictures as well. But beyond that there are very few adjustments that can be made. Its pretty close to a Flip video camera (also discontinued) in that regard.

For the price I figured it would be worth a shot. So far the results are pretty darned cool! Images can be converted from side by side format to angraphic (red/blue) so it can be viewed on a regular non 3D display using the classic red/blue 3D glasses.

I haven't tried the still pictures yet but if there is any interest for folks that can get their hands on some red/blue 3D glasses I might try to get some cool pics and upload them.
