I'd be awful proud of her too, nice job!!   How many will you keep in there, and is this your first time with hens?  We hope to be able to move and do this too.  Very nice work on that coop!

That looks like no tractor I'm used to seeing, so I Googled "chicken tractor" and found plans for several different models.  That's a new one on me....I'd never heard that term before :-[

Tell your better half "Congratulations" on a job well done for me!  She does nice work

I am every shade of green jealous!!!    That is exactly the tractor I've bookmarked , hoping to find someone to build one for me.    I want to go a few feet longer tho.   And the odd thing is..I want one with a plug in on the outside so I can turn on a light of sorts for the super chilly nights in the winter time.

I'm sooo IMPRESSED with Mrs. Bighat!!   ***high fives***

I just turned to tell hubby he needs to build me a garage so's I can build a chicken coop...  hah!!   :)

How many chickens does she plan on keeping in that one?    I would like three hens and a rooster, so I'm curious on how many would fit in there comfortably.

Oh, are they happy lil girls. :)   Busy checking out the new digs..   :)

Is there a roost on the inside ?

Is it pretty easy to lift and pull around?   That was one of my concerns , that I wouldnt be able to pull it.

Sorry for all the questions..  I'm a bit excited on this coop and seeing it being built really got me going. :)

That is neat! And she did a great job on it, shingles and everything. I'll bet the birds love it!

Excellent job on the chicken tractor
Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

Your wife did a great job on the chicken coupe.

I would like to get some free range chickens around the new house but I think the greyhounds would be eating chicken pot pie before I knew it.

Outstanding, especially "free hand"!
You better watch out, BH. Now that the little lady has mastered your shop and tools, the next thing will be BBQ'ing the steaks and drinkin' all the beer!  ;D

to all, thank you.

to WW, it is a little heavy, she said it gave her shoulders a workout. there is a roost inside, she said the chickens were just happy as could be the first night.

OP, my wife is prior service, she was a mechanic in the navy (just like me) that's actually how we met. believe me, she's got the tool thing down. she's a better cook too. always has been. thankfully, she doesn't drink all my beer.

i used to try to take over with projects like this, until i realized she does a better job. i just stick to making knives and fixing up old axes, and let her do the carpentry. her dad is a cabinet maker, and taught her a lot. i just let her do her thing, it turns out better that way. ;)

The chicken tractor looks great! Your wife did a bang up job. Saying she's a better cook is not setting the bar too high my friend! :) Welcome home BTW.
