This was my first project to assemble a knife. I had to noodle it a bunch, but it turned out ok.

I've used this knife quite a bit now and am surprised it hasn't fallen apart. The spine loves the fire steel, so that's a good thing too!

Yep that's a fine choice of handle materials. It turned out really pretty! I like the copper tube in the firesteel handle too.

Creek that is pretty sweet. You did a good job fitting that kit together considering how much noodling some of those crazy kits need! You look like you pulled it off though. 8)

Those scales are stunning.  If you ever decide to re-home it, I call dibs.
Upon this a question arises: whether it be better to be loved than feared or feared than loved? One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.

If you don't mind my asking, where do you guys pick up these kind of blade blanks? I've done some scale jobs on green river blanks before, but don't see anything like these beautys anywhere.

Matt got it right. Red offers knife kits for you to put together and he usually has a variety of scales for options. I'm sure we will be seeing some kits here in the near future.

Nice Remo! Did you use a wood burning iron on the handle or is that a different technique?

Hey PW!!!
I actually used a Dremel to engrave the Handle with ! On one side is a Serpent, or Great Worm as in Viking Mythos, on the other is Thors name in Viking Rune. Gave this one to my Sister. The Handle has hickory closest to the Blade , Followed by Stacked Leather, Then Maple or Ash for the Bulk of the Handle. It's backed by a Brass faucet or lamp fixture ring and and a Knurled brass Butt Cap Piece. I know the Picture is crappy but it was my first attempt....Sis likes it! :) :D :) By comparison, look at Red's version in his Vendor Subforum I posted. I was Lucky enough to Purchase that from him way back when we were still hoping RS6 would turn around, and that of course is history.

You did a good job. One of my goals for this year is to get a knife kit and see if I can do a half way decent handle.

This was my first project to assemble a knife. I had to noodle it a bunch, but it turned out ok.

Really well done - you obviously put a lot of time and effort into it.  Your axes rock, but so do your knives.
