Testing the Poll feature
« on: March 02, 2012, 07:28:19 PM »
The "poll" feature on this board has some interesting  options.
You can specify how many votes each user can have. Any number above "1" (default) could have some crazy results.
The other feature, which I enabled here, is that a user can CHANGE his/her vote, if they thought better of their original answer.
Anyway, let's test drive this.

I don't see the option to change the vote. Let me wheel out the test dummy...

Well, I didn't get hit by lightning for voting "no" - so I got that going for me, which is nice.

Oh, my! Playing some more I see that the number of answers may be infinite! Well, probably either 99, or 999, or 255? Who knows? I kept adding blanks up past 20 and got tired.

After voting and reading the poll results, it looks like one other member is clueless, also :-\

Did you set this poll to allow multiple answers? I was only able to vote one time.

You can only vote once, but you can change your vote (IIRC). This software has more options for creating polls than the vBulletin software, except all polls are anonymous, which I prefer anyway.

Me neither.

At this point I'm three of the three.
It's not that I don't find polls interesting, it's just that I don't find them useful or "good."
It's a curiosity thing I guess, rather than follow the trend.

Yeah, the curiosity factor, like the "Ages" poll. I've found a couple polls interesting, when it comes to preferences of certain things. If a lot of people prefer one piece of gear over another, and it's something I haven't tried, I may investigate further.  But I agree that it's mainly a "gee-whiz" factor.
