Missed another photo op today around 5 pm. Gotta make a neck sheath for my camera!!!!

I was painting one of the bedrooms, and a movement caught my eye in the window. There were two does standing next to my boat. A mature doe, and what looked to be her 2 year old. Then right beyond them was the cutest little spotted fawn you could imagine!  I swear that thing wasn't a week old. It was standing on the edge of the road, acting like it was waiting for the two older ones to show it someplace more exciting.  In just a few seconds, it scampered off down the road, leading its mamma and older sister off to greener pastures.

Pretty neat treat.....

Must have been a good day for the moms to be out walkin' the kids.....I saw three hen turkeys with what looked like about 25-30 poults.   The littlest ones were REALLY little, like day old chickens.  Sure a lot more attractive than their mothers!

Isn't that some sort of Universal Truth? I remember my Dad telling me when I got sweet on one cute young thing...."What does her mother look like?"   After letting it sink in, I ran like crazy....

Gonna toss one in here for a change... was down at the Niagara Gorge today doing a little hiking along the Bruce trail and noticed a bunch of Turkey Vultures soaring on the thermals. Wasn't able to get a clear enough pic until one perched into this old dead tree...

Drove out to see some friends today. This little guy was waiting to greet us. He had a twin farther back in the bush. Interesting thing is on the 2nd of September, they were still both in velvet.

Found this guy upstairs in the barn last night. possible hummingbird moth? Is that proboscis always in evidence or can they tuck it away. If not then this one probably isn't one, but the head looks similar.

I Googled 'hummingbird moth', went to 'images', but found no photos of one at rest.  Turns out that you may have the only picture on the Internet of one NOT in flight, Bin!  8).   I think the proboscis coils up at the whim of the critter, though :P.  Nice shot!

The whole time I was photographing the Hummingbird Moth in my yard, I never saw it land, so I can't say for sure.
I did find several photos on the web of one at rest. The common image shows prominent antennae, which yours doesn't display. None of them show the proboscis extended. Not sure what you have there.

Take a closer look Ol' P,  Binalith's pictures show the moth's antennae folded down.  Must be in a non-communicative mood.

Yeah...talk about synchronicity! My wife just found an injured Hummingbird Month in the grass. I think your hummingbird-hunting cat knocked it down. I'll have the pix up in a few minutes.

man they certainly look similar dont they. especially the 'real tree' wings

Just got into digital photography this morning haha. My friend has an extra Nikon and the the editing software on his comp. Here's my first editing attempt. Nothing can fix being a little out of focus though. Didn't realize at that point that you can move the focus grid around.

It does in that pic, but it was an opossum.  Here's another pic that shows a better shot of the opossum along with a  burst with another vulture coming in.
