I think I just became a Dymondwood fan. This project is the result of a micarta malfunction. I mixed up a batch of resin, I thought with a similar ratio of hardener as the previous batches, but it got lumpy before I could get the last few layers of OD canvas in place. The finished micarta slab was a little too thin to begin with and then I kept sanding to try to get a consistent pattern on each side. By the time I finished, the scales were too thin. I liked the blade but did not like the scales so I ended up knocking them off and using a piece of Dymondwood I had recently purchased. First time I've used it.
The knife is ESEE "inspired" ... okay, copied. While working on the knife, I saw an Ian Atkinson video in which he made a brown leather sheath for an ESEE 4. I really like his sheaths (and his videos). I thought the walnut Dymondwood would work well with brown leather. So here is my stab at it.

Happier with the symmetry on these scales than with the failed micarta.

Ian punched holes in the belt loop of his sheath for lacing options I guess. I punched the holes and got them too high, too close to the bend. A few other things I coulda, woulda, shoulda done differently ....

I still have not tried any leather dye. Only used olive oil and let it darken in the sun a few hours.
