Fund Raiser Knife
« on: May 27, 2014, 04:58:38 PM »
Our knife club is working at raising enough money to put on our own knife show.  One of our members (Ray Ramsey) has donated a knife to try and raise a little toward that end.

This knife is uses D2 steel, flat grind, overall length just under 8-1/2", blade length about 3-1/2".  Handle is a gator jaw.  Sheath is faced with gator hide.

The way this will work is via auction.  You can post publicly or via PM (time stamp determines the bid if there is a tie).  I'll let this run about a week or so.  The bidding will start at $175.  IMO this is easily a $400 knife.

Too rich for my blood, but what a gorgeous knife!

All the best in this endeavor.

Beautiful and unique trailing point skinner!  Is the gator bone stabilized?  RC hardness of the steel?  I assume this is being auctioned via several different avenues and not just here?

The bone is stabilized and filled with polyester adhesive (done in a vacuum chamber).  The RC is probably in the 59-60 range.

This is the only place I am listing it.  If after a week there are no bids, then I will take it down and list it someplace else.

Thanks, CD.  That makes it much more tempting.

I sure wish I could afford it. I doubt another as fine could be had at that price.
