Congrats, great find.

Not being a lumber jack I've always been partial to small and medium sized axes, I have a full sized Plumb double bit but never used it for wood cutting, I bought it new back in the eighties to use as a target for splitting round balls with my muzzle loaders, it worked well, and the handle remains unscratched.

I much prefer a boy's size axe, I have several vintage heads that I have rescued and put new handles onto that get used occasionally, when ever I get out to a hardware store I still check out the axes and I always surprised (don't know why) that all the new axes are so poorly made, most are cast, most made in Mexico or China, most too fat in the body and too short in head length, and most made more like wedges than fine cutting tools.
It's not like they don't have models to copy from, it wouldn't take more material, and since they are mostly cast how hard could it be to make a mold that would turn out a decent axe head, and most have lawyers edges, you have a hard time cutting cold butter let alone a pine sapling.
Anyhow, congrats again, and please keep us in the loop as your project goes forward.
