News story of elusive mountain man
« on: February 17, 2012, 03:41:17 PM »
Some of you may have seen this already but I thought I'd share it anyway. It comes up every once in awhile in the media and is not new. I think it is interesting that even today people can be hard to catch in the wilderness if they know what they are doing. Here is the link to the story.

I have respect for those rare people who go out and do things their own way but.. Not when it involves theft, destruction, and littering the wilderness. I think this guy is a bit coo-coo for cocoa puffs.

He's a criminal.  He'ld come out of my cabin in a body bag.
At least it's not a femur through the pelvis.

People who  can stay out for extended periods of time AND are legit...don't do it by stealing.

Also sounds like they are dealing with more than one person to me.

Yeah it seems like this guy (or guys) are breaking into the cabins for food and shelter in the winter months when vehicle access is blocked by snow so the owners can't check on them. Then in the summer when they are occupied he makes camps in the woods.

But it's true, if he was really a great woodsman he wouldn't need to raid people's cabins, he could manage on his own.

Ya all great points everyone. I think the time to track him down is in the winter when less innocent people are around in their cabins plus it would be easier to track and capture him. Hopefully they get him/them before he/they hurt someone.
