Spirit Steels
« on: August 07, 2012, 09:49:51 AM »
These are a couple wood spirits carved in poplar.  The steels are from firesteel.com 1/4" x 3".

Black

Cordovan

They are both available for fire kits.

Enjoy.

Okay Boss.

I guess I will add then that they are $30 each shipped to CONUS.  Outside that will be a bit extra.

Can you use a thicker rod? BTW, no fire was started with matches during my 4 day camping trip over the Labor Day weekend. Few folks tried your fire steel out and loved it. Thank you!

Land Cruiser I think the next rod up is a 3/8.  I had not thought to try one at that size since the 3/8 rods are much more expensive.

I might order a couple and see how they do.

I am glad your fellow's in the field enjoyed it, thank you!

Yep. Does it have to be a spirit? Can we do an animal or just piece of Burl?

I have no burl, but I could wood burn animals, figures, etc.  Simple is best.  I am not that skilled with a hot iron.

Here is an antelope I burned into a walking stick as an example.

If you have a piece of burl you want to use you could send it to me and we can work from there also.

Sounds good.  Do I have license for the length of the handle?  Or do you like the 3" handle on the one you have?

How short can you go? I intend to carry this one in the sheath with me.

The Red steel is gone now.

I am willing to take orders for any that one made.  After Christmas I will likely make a few more to have on hand, but I prefer commissioned work (don't we all?)

Thanks all!
