Title: KaBar 1205
Post by: Alan R McDaniel Jr on July 04, 2020, 07:42:12 PM
Some time back I was going down the highway (which I do reluctantly with great regularity) and I clicked on a familiar shape on the road.  I turned around and circled back, stopped, jumped out, and retrieved the treasure.  All the while being harangued that I was going to be run over and that we were likely all going to die due to my reckless behavior.  No matter I had it, and now it was mine.  Some hapless fool had, no doubt, left it on his bumper and driven off.  He has been wondering ever since where his knife is.  It had been on the highway for some time by appearances.

We didn't die and when I got home I went to work. After liberal application of a little elbow grease I had this.

And after adding a chunk of Texas Mountain Laurel, I had another good utility  knife for the camp box.

Looks good. Then original, was it leather stacked?

The mountain laurel certainly is nice looking.

Was the stacked leather handle beyond restoring?

Yes it was stacked leather.  No, it was crushed beyond any use but compost.  I really surprised it wasn't sticking in someone's tire as many times as it appeared to have been run over.

The mountain laurel does have nice figure.  Mr. Crashblade put together five fillet knives for me using that mountain laurel.  He also did one of his famous B&T blades for me with a ML handle.  It is now my everyday knife.

I like stories like that.  A FREE knife with a very eye-catching handle treatment, Alan....nice work!

Thanks, It was a somewhat less than glamorous job, but it cuts.
