Tried my hand at making tongs
« on: March 02, 2016, 04:03:52 PM »

My first time trying to make tongs. I failed on the rivet part of it but I got the shape of both sides correct on the first try. The rivet messed up the hole when I tried to put one in it and now its to thin around the pin to try again and distorted. Learning thats what this was lol.

I, for one, appreciate you posting your "learning experiences" as well as your triumphs.

I already have a game plan on how to make another set. I need the correct drift and I need to have a rivet already cut and ready.

Ditto! Looking forward to seeing the next pair or finished version.

You are making progress.  Great to see.

Looks like you are almost there. Just like anything else, the more times you try a thing, the better you will get at it.

Looks good to me!!  Heck, I think I'd just put a bolt through the hole, add a nut and peen the bolt just enough to keep the nut on and USE IT man!!
