Yeah, he was a 'pretty decent ' standard northeast Nebraska whitetail, but we hadn't seen ANYTHING for 2 days......probably due to the crappy, warm & wet weather we were getting midway in the season.  Thursday dawned cold & frosty w/bright sunshine and we shot two nearly identical bucks inside of 30 minutes.... go figure.  ???

I nailed him with a .45/70 Marlin 1895 Cowboy loaded with a duplexed blackpowder/home-cast 405gr. flat-point-bullet cartridge recipe that I developed through experimentation.  Distance was around 135 yds., according to my partner's laser rangefinder......he went down like a ton of bricks.  8)

I thought his main beam mass was pretty darn good.  Better than most around here anyway.  Glad you got him before the weather went to heck.
