Somewhere on the upper floors of a fancy office building, men in suits and women in pencil skirts sit around an expensive conference table pondering how to come up with new ways to appeal to a larger market. Cliched buzz words like "win-win" are tossed around and everyone politely smiles in agreement. The marriage of two internationally known name brands is heralded as progress in the great outdoors equipment market. In reality it is progress in padding their respective bank accounts, if they can sell it to the public.
I saw mention at one time, it may even have been on this forum, the high price of Yeti products is not about the quality, it is about the "lifestyle". For the folks that need the bit of swagger and bravado of "look at me, I can afford this!", a Gucci/NorthFace product will be right up their alley.
Back in the 60's, many advertisements proclaimed "Be the first on your block to own one!". Not much has changed. They no longer use that tagline, but the sentiment is still there.  Both companies are so image conscious their respective board members must be giddy over this partnership.
I have a difficult time visualizing the Gucci jet set crowd pulling a tent out of the boot of their Bentley to sit around a campfire when they could be sipping wine while seated around a gas fireplace at a swanky chalet in the mountains.  Though, I'm sure, a few will rough it for the bragging rights to the "hardships" they had to endure.
The beginning or the the end? Probably the beginning of a corporate marriage that will end in divorce if they don't see a quick return on investment. Oh, the harsh realities of corporate finance and high stakes bullshetery!
I hope they do well and provide employment and paychecks for many.

I tried to post a you tube link to the Gucci Northface ad, but it won't display correctly. Oh well.

Mayo is one of those staples that goes quick in our house, Honey, Tea and Coffee are some other staples that seem to get used up faster than they should,  I haven't seen Cinco brand in our area,  my favorite Is Hellman's Real Mayo.

it's reall good to hear folks are getting out and about'
not so much for me these days lucky to go shopping.
been working on the garden a bit keeps me out of trouble heh heh.
any how that's about it i guess. oh yeah plan to do some canning soon
been hearing too much lately bout sever power outages this summer.
heck even the power co, made some referance to it in the monthly coop news letter. that woke me up.

I hope it gets better for you,  on a lighter note,  I was at the super market today to pick up a few things,  I usually do my shopping twice a month ever since the BS Covid restrictions went in, I was there about a week and a half ago and everything was the new normal aka everyone was wearing masks, arrows were painted on the floor showing direction of travel and social distancing,  workers were sanitizing shopping carts,  and register people were not allowed to interact with patrons beyond the glass barriers.
To my surprise today was different, upon walking in I grabbed aa cart and walked in to the main store,  there were very few people wearing masks including the store workers,  gone were the painted arrows and taped distancing marks on the floors, and people were actually smiling and talking to one another,  I thought about turning around and entering the store again to make sure I wasn't seeing things that weren't there,  but then I figured just pinching myself might work,  but seriously,  today it looked and felt allot like the old normal.
It looks like the People getting fed up with the "powers that be" and pushing back is starting to work.

Its good we're finally getting a little ahead of the recent pandemic. Please keep in mind this was neither the first nor the last pandemic. Without arguing reasons or politics it is simply a fact of life. We can look back and clearly see what has worked and what has not. More than half a million deaths in our nation alone should tell us something.

Some folks, for whatever reasons, despite limited knowledge of medical issues choose to see this pandemic via a perspective that basically ignores biology and medical science in general. I accept folks can and will do that even if it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

In historical terms we got lucky - eventually. Unfortunately, we waited too long to accept reality this time. I hope we will act more responsibly next time.

For there will certainly be a next time.

Thats not politics. That's biology.

lately for some time iv'e been hearing of comming mass power outages across the grid.
from the govt, certian youtube sites i do trust thier not panic pimps.
and even in the monthly news bullitin from my electric coop, that one concerned me
they put a reminder at the end of the article, stating it's not thier fault.

that was a wake up i guess. give the cost of food latley especially meats.
i fell it's a good time to start canning up some to put by.
so what have anyone here heard or seen on this issue in thier neck of the woods.

Same out here Moe.  Went to a museum function two months ago, restricted attendence and masks required.  Last Saturday the program and no seating restrictions and not one person wore a mask.  Sanity is slowly returning. ???
