Great bunch of photos.  Love the textures and forms that wood takes on.  Light was great so the shadows, cracks, and forms show up.  Kind of Ansel Adams look to some of those.  Thanks for posting these.

What are those little umbrella shaped things growing or stuck on the wood?

That was my thought too but I wanted to be sure.  There are a lot of types of barnacles.  These might be acorns but Dave might know.

As you and Craig suspected, those are barnacles.  Wish I would have taken a picture of the whole plank.  There was about an eight foot section that looked like brand new lumber.  Come to think about it.....with lumber prices.....I should have taken the whole plank.
