A Kracaneuner Tale.
« on: March 29, 2021, 02:32:57 PM »
...as best I can remember.

We camped at a notorious airboat pee pee stop in central FL.

Egos ran rampant.

...and the guns came out.  Sorry boys.   Long time ago and no pics.

But on the tarp was an impressive array of fire power.

While airboaters are considered pretty extreme rednecks,  the poor girl that had to pee maybe wasn't part of the regulators.  She took one look at the armory on the tarp and froze.

"What is THAT!"

A banjo player stepped forward.  Placed a rock on the tarp.   And said,

"That's my single shot."

True story.

I remember that photo.....or one nearly like it.   I think it was then that I decided to become a 'prospect' for full membership in Tribe Kraceneuner.....and I was eventually accepted!

"Remuda" !!!  I had to look that one up.  Not all of us were born around the civil war.

The hardware brought has only gotten bigger.  He who bears witness is Kelly's wide eyed nephew.  But the pics are more bacon, shrimp, sausage, bacon, more bacon... and when Greg's there stuff like monkey bread, fried snickers, fried oreos,  dang.

I think I'll go deep fry a Babyruth.

I had a deep fried cheeseburger once, probably  shortened my life by a few months but boy was it good.

A deep fried candy bar must be pretty tasty too.

I remember the term 'remuda' from my days watching Gil Favor, Wishbone & Rowdy Yates on Rawhide.....that was some time ago, so the whippersnappers here will have to rely on Google for clarification. 8)

It us a word still used around here by some of the older guys.  If a branding is going on and they hear it has a remuda then you know it is going to brand a lot of calves and go on a  long time.  Doesn't happen too much but there are a few ranches with enough calves to need a bunch of horses.

I owe Mike some deep fried Fig Newtons. Next camp a YellowYak Carnival Food Palooza... and I'll lay out my .45 for show next to the deep fryer.

So when the "man up" happened and I ate cow balls  It was a remuda

The chainsaw was leatherface's.  Don't with him.

A remuda is a string of horses used to round up.  No cow balls involved in the name.

But the biggest pile is cow tipping.  One.  You cant' see its sex in the dark.  Two.  You shove a bull in the middle of the night and you're toast.  Three.  They don't fall over.  And I won't tell you how I know that.
