Today's Day Hike

Went for a walk on the beach today.  Overcast, but wonderful.

Great day on the beach crash!  Is that a sunk ship or just some rigging?  I like the pelicans in flight pics.  Those are cool.

It's what is left of a shrimp boat that grounded several years ago.  If I recall correctly, when the boat finally broke apart a lot of people showed up to help clean the beach.  Not sure of the reasoning for anchoring what was left rather than removing it (cost I guess) but it is kind of cool to look at and I'm sure the fish and a few resting birds like it.

Nice!  What do you suppose the deer was doing on the beach?  Taking a quick dip?
That last round of big surf carved up the beach a little.

I think you'll like it there.  Nice campground on the river side of the road.  Nice hiking trail (easy) through the forest that spills out onto the beach - probably about a three mile loop.  Just a note to stick in the back of your mind.....if tides are running high there is about a 50 yard section of the beach that you will need to wade through on that hike at high tide.

With the winds that we had over the weekend, the high water mark was up into the brush for most of the beach.

Nice group of photos Crash.  A far different environment than I live in for sure.  I like the subdued colors and the photos of some of that wood are interesting.
