This is sort of gear related as you can repair gear with it. It is a tape that comes in clear or black and you can buy die cut forms in black (Including some that are kind of dumb) but quite useful at the same time. The black die cuts are in circles, rounded triangles and rectangles, and some figures. The figures are Big Foot, a squirrel, a tree, a thistle, a crescent moon, stars, and a maple leaf. You use it to repair rips and tears in your fabric gear. I used the clear on the inside of a coated nylon jacket to stop it from flaking off. I repaired a couple of rips in a windbreaker and my hooded chore jacket. The clear comes in rolls about 1 1/2" by up to 5'. It is fairly expensive but works well and from the coat I repaired about three years ago it holds up well.
Here is Big Foot on one of my windbreakers. (it was a big rip)

I bought this online but it is available at several larger retailers.
